A vivid production about the need to belong and be part of a community, in a world of individuality and a desire for freedom.
In this unique dance performance, Memory Wax from Sweden and Danza Teatro Retazos from Cuba explore dreams and the significance of feeling free, despite the need of belonging and community. With contemporary dance as a base, combined with elements of pantomime, hip hop and folklore, we create contrasting characters. Everyday scenes are enhanced in a constantly changing dream world where memories and desires are intertwined. Crisálida is a performance about belonging and identity portrayed with humor and poetry.
Crisálida can be presented both indoors and outdoors and is available for touring during the whole year. There is also a reworked version of the performance for children from 5 years old. Length 30 min.
Crisálida has been performed in Kuba and Sweden at Stockholms Kulturfestival, Malmöfestivalen, Passage festival /Helsingborg, Superdupersommar in Folkets park/Malmö, Sommarlund, Dansfiket / Uppsala, Landskrona Trädgårdsgille, Ystad scenkonstfestival, Vancouver International Dance Festival/Canada, Dance Days/Wales and, in collaboration with Vass – scenkonst som vågar, Crisálida was performed at Malmö Live and Barnens scen/Malmö, Lunds Stadsteater/Lund, Jonebergahallen/Simrishamn, Jarl Kullescenen/Ängelholm and to Figur festival – Frölunda Kulturhus/Göteborg.
